WHAT IS ACCREDITATION?
Accreditation is a test that schools and programs have to pass to ensure that they are a reputable and trustworthy institution.
WHY IS ACCREDITATION IMPORTANT?
Accreditation is important because it’s a seal of approval. You don’t want to choose a university, attend, pay a lot of money and have your degree not count for anything. Unaccredited institutions result in money loss and time lost. While you may have the skills necessary for a certain job, if your degree comes from an unaccredited institution or program, future employers will not accept your degree.
HOW CAN YOU KNOW IF YOUR UNIVERSITY OF CHOICE IS ACCREDITED?
CHEA is the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. CHEA has a database of accredited schools and programs on their website. Only schools that have passed the accreditation test will be on the database. Click the image below to be directed to the CHEA website.
You can also check if you program or school is accredited at the US Department of Education Database of Accredited Postsecondary Institutions and Programs. Click the image below to be directed to the US Department of Education Database.
